Holi celebration begins with lighting up of bonfire on the Holi eve (Holika Dahan). Holi festival may be celebrated with various names and people of different states might be following different traditions. Holi is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as ‘Holika’. The festival of Holi is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March every year.
However, this festival is a perfect manifestation of India’s secular nature as a large number of people belonging to other clans also actively take part in this festival. It is regarded as a festival that marks the end of all disputes and brings together people.
One of the loveliest of all festivals anywhere on earth.
Best wishes
