Scorpions are arthropods, they have eight legs, two pedipalps, and a tail with a venom-injecting barb. Scorpions have two venom glands that produce venom used in hunting and self defense. Scorpions do not have bones instead they have an exoskeleton made of chitin, which is similar to the shell of a shrimp. Scorpion is a close relative of spiders, mites and ticks. It belongs to group called arachnids.
There are 1200 species of scorpions that can be found all over the planet except on Antarctica, Greenland, New Zealand and certain small islands. Most species of scorpions live in warm climate. Few species can be found in cooler climate. Scorpions are very old creatures. According to the fossil data, scorpions exist on the Earth 430 million years. Prehistoric and modern scorpions look alike, except that modern scorpions are two times smaller in size.

There is fluorescent in the Scorpion that is believed to be part of the molting process but really is unknown.
All Scorpions are venomous. Only about 25-30 of them have a type of venom that is potent enough to make someone very ill or to kill them.
Antarctica is the only place on Earth where you won’t find the Scorpion living.
The Scorpion loves to live around rocks, sand, and trees. However, they are very adaptable and have been found living in some very unusual places.
