Henri Jayer Richebourg Grand Cru claims the title of the most expensive wine in the world, with an average price of US$16,193 per bottle and a maximum price of US$24,473. The wine hasn’t been in production since Henri Jayer’s retirement back in 1995 and has become even rarer since his passing in 2006. Henri Jayer was a French vintner who is credited with introducing important innovations to Burgundian wine-making. He was particularly known for the quality of his Pinot noir. Jayer was born in Vosne-Romanée.
