Comprised in the rays of the sun

The amazing Sunset and Sunrise Point of Kanyakumari is a must visit place for every traveller and photographer. Kanyakumari is known for various tourist places around, especially popular in India for its spectacular and unique sunrise and sunset view surrounded by kilometers of water. This is India’s Land’s End, the tip of peninsular India where the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea meet. The confluence of these three places is also referred as ‘Thriveni Sangamam’.Kanyakumari otherwise popularly known as Cape Comorin is supposed to be a famous pilgrim centre and a beach resort. The unique feature of Kanyakumari is the view of Sunrise and the Sunset where lot of tourists assembles at the shore to witness this breathtaking sight. The Kanyakumari beach has the unique feature of rocky shoreline with different hues of sand.

The waves here seem to be quite rough and care should be taken when you go for a surfing or a sea bath. This is a temple dedicated to lord Kanyakumari, one of the incarnations of Parvati, the consort of Shiva.Kumari Amman temple is also famous for the deity adorned with the diamond nose ring that is believed to be guiding the fisherfolk and the ships sailing the sea. The temple overlooks the shoreline and is not open for non-Hindus. The temple is open to public from 0430 to 1130 and from 1730 to 2030.The sea is fairly rough, so it is entertaining to watch it beat itself against the rocks and then subside, before it gathers itself up for another attack. With long stretches of sands of many hues, the beach offers a welcome change. The place is also famous for its distinctly beautiful (reddish) sunrise and sunset. The confluence of three ocean bodies – the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea – makes the sunrise and sunset even more special. On balmy, full-moon evenings one can also see the moon-rise and sunset at the same time – on either side of the horizon. A variety of shells are on sale on the Kanyakumari beach.
