Monaco -A Reasonable Place to Visit.

The Principality of Monaco is a sovereign city-state in Europe. nestled between the Alps and the Mediterranean Sea, bounded by the French Riviera to the west and the Italian Riviera to the east.

A sovereign and independent state, the Principality of Monaco has borders on its landward side with several communes of the French Department of the Alpes-Maritimes; from west to east these are Cap d’Ail, la Turbie, Beausoleil and Roquebrune Cap Martin. Seawards, Monaco faces the Mediterranean Sea.Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, after Vatican City. 

Three miles long by one-half miles wide (about the size of New York’s Central Park).Monaco is the name of the country, while Monte-Carlo is a district within Monaco.

Any person of foreign nationality who wishes to enter Monégasque territory and stay there for a period not exceeding three months must have the document (passport, travel or identity document) required for entry into French territory.French is the Principality`s first language, but some natives speak the ancient Monegsque. English and Italian are also widely spoken.The legal tender in Monaco is the Euro €.

Tourism became a major part of Monaco’s economy when the nation opened its casino in Monte Carlo, which helped Monaco become the world famous tourist destination it is today. In 1869, the government of Monaco decided to stop collecting income taxes because the casino brought in enough money, making Monaco a great place to live. Monaco’s own citizens, however, are prevented by law from gambling at their casino.
