Western Australia, I will concede, has its wonders.
Its proximity to the rest of the civilized world is not one of them.
Singapore Airlines did its best to lessen the pain of travel but it could not have reckoned on the man in front of us (I think he was Swiss but I don’t know why) who spent the entire journey demanding special treatment for having to endure the shocking conditions. (He had paid extra to have a seat the front of economy he informed the airline hostesses and anyone else who cared to listen.)
